Kentucky Derby 2019 payouts: Win, place, show results for 145th race

Maximum Security entered the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs as a 9/2 favorite, and he was able to hold off Country House to win the biggest race of the year.

Or so we thought.

As he made the final turn Saturday, Maximum Security veered out of his lane and bumped Country House. After Maximum Security crossed the finish line No. 1, the race was reviewed. Stewards then determined that Maximum Security impeded other horses' progress, and the horse therefore was disqualified.

Here are the payouts for the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Country House: Win ($132.40), Place ($56.60), Show ($24.60)Code of Honor: Place ($15.20), Show ($9.80)Tacitus: Show ($5.60)

Country House's payouts were high because he entered the race at 65-1 odds.

Grab your oversized hats that you'll only wear once, and get ready for the 145th annual Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville.

A little birdie told me that the Derby is difficult to handicap, but it was particularly challenging this year, with the scratches of Omaha Beach, who was considered to be the favorite, and Haikal before Saturday's race.

But we move on. So, here are the updated betting lines, from best odds to the worst, from Sportsline on Derby Day:

The 145th Kentucky Derby might be the most exciting two minutes in sports, but there will be plenty of other horse racing Saturday at Churchill Downs.

The Derby is the 12th of 14 races scheduled at the iconic venue, with the first starting at 7:30 a.m. PT. That might be a bit early for watch parties here on the West Coast, but you will have plenty of opportunities to whet your horse-racing whistle before the main event begins at 3:50 p.m. PT/6:50 p.m. ET.

Pre-race television coverage begins on NBCSN at 9 a.m. PT/noon ET, then shifts to NBC at 11:30 a.m. PT/2:30 p.m. ET. You can stream NBC's coverage of the 145th Kentucky Derby live on NBCSports.com and on the NBC Sports app.
