2019 Preakness Stakes odds: Race-day betting lines, favorites, sleepers

If you didn't tune into the 144th running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday because there were no Triple Crown implications, you missed one of the craziest moments in a long time.

Bodexpress, in the No. 9 stall at Pimlico Race Course, was loaded in crooked, and when the gates opened, he came out wrong, immediately throwing Hall of Fame jockey John Velazquez to the track.

While Velazquez was on the ground, Bodexpress kept running and ended up completing the race, although the 20-1 shot officially received a "did not finish" designation.

After the race, which War of Will won, NBC Sports' Kenny Rice caught up with Velazquez and asked him what happened.

"He was not behaving good in the gate, he was not settling really well," the jockey said. "He got me against the wall in the gate, and obviously, when the doors opened, I was off right from the start and he jumped sideways, and I had my feet out and I lost my balance and I went off."

Despite being thrown from Bodeexpress, Velazquez said he was fine.

"I'm good, to tell you the truth," he said. "Just disappointed when you come here to a big race like this and things like this happen with the horse. Just disappointed."
